batt totally flat at this very moment. just back from a chillout session with the p*izer gang and we had a fun time whining about work (wats new?! lol). so many things have happened since our move to RH. the turnover rate is still as high as ever and there has been many changes in job roles, work flow etc. the unit is now more chaotic due to the expansion and everything seems out of control. even the regulatory authorities are making things difficult for us!
on our way home, my HR asked me how i can stand staying in this place for more than 2 years when she already had enough merely 10 mths here. i had a serious thought about this qn... ever since i took over the role of SC, i never looked back. although i was shortchanged during the transfer, i never regret making the move. i was under ops for 9 mths and i hated life under that terrorist. there were lesser responsibilities thou but i felt degraded to work under someone without a brain. opportunity came and i seized it. i remembered Dr Tan said that i am the youngest SC in p*fizer history and i feel god damn proud to be the record holder lol
i am much happier under the study team. although i have a v 'competent' partner who is perpetually on mc (1 yr 14 days also not enuf for her ah!) or urgent leave, i dun feel the additional burden cos i do most of the work anyway. i have 3 physicians who are very supportive of me esp hock, who always teach me new things and make me see things from a different perspective. to be honest, he really dotes on me and even allows himself to be my punching bag. i have a very caring direct boss choo, who is always helping me fight for things i deserved and speaking up on my behalf. i have a faithful IT guy kev, who always helps me with our stupid IT system. and he never fails to cheer me up every single moment he is with me with his lame 'colour jokes' or fantastic hokkien verses *keke*
i have great frens in my prev dept who is always there when i need them - my HR who always submits my protocol to ethics on time and is consistently following up with the approvals. I have PB (my admin team successor) who is permanently in depression mode lol but brings with her so much knowledge. i always learn new things from her everyday! I have LD who always help me settle nursing issues and is always there to let me whine to or lash out on. I have JL who always helps me settle recruitment issues and keep me informed of wats happening in the unit; with the subjects; and amongst the nuring team. v 38 but v helpful as well lol and lastly, i have the xmm to keep me motivated to go to work everyday. she's a little bit duh but i think all of us dotes on her cos she's the youngest amongst us. i have a very supportive nursing team who always mess things up but will eventually help me settle the issues. althou they always make me vomit blood... most of the time they are around when i needed them.
most importantly, i think this unit give me alot of flexibility during work to pursue my studies. and in terms of politics all that, its nowhere compared to my prev co. in this place, i just have to ignore people i dun like since most of them are from ops and i dun really depend much on them directly. plus the sense of achievement i get from study completion... job satisfaction. till now, i think this place is still bearable. i see my frens suffer but i think its ok as long as it doesnt affect me. my aim now is to lie low, finish my study and if possible embark on the adv dip in CT management. i noe i still got things to learn here... and i feel too comfy to move.
sometimes i am glad to be able to noe and work with these special people who have indeed made my life in p*fizer easier. thanks peps!
