start of 5 years

the ge has finally come to an end. the result was pretty disappointing for me but on a positive note, it managed to create political awareness in youths of the nation. below are some of my personal thoughts for this ge. *disclaimer: if u happen to come across my blog and disagree with what i said... please do not flame me as these thoughts belonged to me!

i attended quite a few rallies from 3 different parties - the blue, the red and the orange.

people who noe me (no need well enuf) will noe tt i am a firm supporter of the blue. i grew up in hg...a place well taken care of by mr ltk. i am his ardent supporter. when i was young, i always see mr ltk do his MPS at the void deck of Blk 310 regardless rain or shine. i admire this man, his heart and passion to serve the people and his determination to fight the bad men in white. the people of hg love him... i remember cheering at the top of my voice for this man when he came on a lorry with his loudspeaker to thank the residents after every election. every family will crowd by the kitchen window and cheer wildly for him. he has never disappoint us. i have read of people slamming him for being cowardly in the parliament and saying that the blues are actually spies for the white. these comments always makes me angry as i find them totally irrelevant and unjustifiable.

i think the current blues consist of quite a few talented men and women. and most importantly they came with a heart to serve the people. personally i was very impressed by mr pritam and mr png. even newbies like ms lilian and mr yew caught my attention. their A team was simply irresistable. many times i can only look at my opp street (aljunied) and drool.

i went to the rally of the red because of mr vincent. i was deeply inspired by his speeches esp his plea to singaporeans to spare a thought for the poor. i love dr tambya's lunchtime speech at cbd on lowering healthcare cost in this nation. he spoke nothing but facts. i think they had a great team at hol-bt but too bad people dunno how to appreciate. and i felt pretty sorry they garner such low votes. i think its due to the bad image of csj. some people say csj is very courages and inspiring yada yada... this may be true but the way he behaved truly gave opp a bad name. his gangsterism is just too much for most of us.

i attended orange rally because of nic. she strikes me as someone courageous and full of justice, like a big sister who will always stand up for the weak and gets rid of the bullies. but after the rally, i realise what gct said made sense. the quality of the oranges are not that good afterall. the results says it all. u can argue that they have done well in mp and tp but i think u should give credit to tpl and mbt for helping their opp instead.

there were several speeches in this ge that touched or inspired me. mr pritam reminded the youths of this nation to take ownership of their country. how true! we will most prob take over this nation in the next ge... and what kind of nation do we want to inherit? one that is prosperous and democratic? or one that is polluted and unaffordable? i choose the former. he also asked the youth of singapore to not give up on the nation regardless of the election result. it made me stop and think why am i trying so hard to leave this country that rightfully belongs to me?! it made me want to stay back to defend this nation and try to make things right!

mr cst in red/white also touched me with his love for the country and his fellow countrymen. to think after 27 years of being bullied and yet taking good care of his people, he got betrayed by cheap carrots. makes me realise how mean and scary people can be. i feel sad for him and his wife. i hope he can spend more time taking care of himself. i mean he should since the people in pp and b/t absolutely do not deserve him.

lastly to the zakpalang and yellow parties... please consider closing down. u r nothing but a disgrace to the alternative parties. esp the zakpalang... can u please stop contesting in my constituency?! u made me lose my integrity and rationale for the 2nd time in a decade!  STOP COMING TO PR-P!!!

i think i shall end here. and in case u r wondering y am i writing in colours and acronyms, its becos i am also a humji singaporean like the majority of you.
