promised prof to help her kill fish today, so LL have to drag myself out of bed on a bright sat morning and travel all the way to nus. blur blur long into the freshwater aquarium lab to find no one there. called prof and kana whack by her cos i am studying SALTWATER FISH LOL so its MARINE AQUARIUM LAB! *keke*

was quite excited and scare when i reached the lab. excited cos 1st time kill fish. scare cos i buddhist mah...so sinful to be killing animals. thank god it was mdm (prof ip's TA) who was in charge of killing. kc, prof and me in charge of extracting and storing the organs. prof so cute, brought her little son to help us record the weights. is this child abuse har? =P initially i was in charge of extracting the toadfish gills only. mdm taught me how to go about cutting the gills and separating it from the cartilage. must say its quite hard you noe. 1 gill is made up of 3 sets of fine gill filaments. end up i have to cut 6 gill filaments x 20 fish *sweat* as i got better, prof made me process the brain and also do the freezing up of the organs. i guess i did a not bad job lah... cant be so bad right since i held forcep and scissor for more than a yr while working as a qualified 'butcher' in *gh.

the whole killing 'ceremony' ended in last than 5 hrs. mdm is really good in dissection...every cut was so precise. she was also v patient in teaching me as well :) i din feel so sinful in the end la cos fish not i kill one LOL but when i came home and described the whole process to dad... i felt abit gross. but nevertheless, i will volunteer myself for the next killing session cos i think its a good exposure.
