almighty big boss came to town 3 days ago to settle a few issues with the regulatories as well as our manufacturing counterpart. despite her bz schedule, she took time to have heart-to-heart tok with the individual departments. i had a short 'personal tok' with her yesterday. clarified some points and also raised an issue which no one else in the unit had guts to tok to her about. was playing with fire den but seems like my effort paid off today and i pray hard hard that she will not reveal who is the person who brought up that issue =P
had an all hands lunch with her today. she gave us a tok... pretty long one. in that tok, she summarized what she gathered from us these 3 days she was here; offered some advices, threw us some challenges and also helped settled the issue (that had bothered the entire nursing team!) i brought up.
she told us that she's so proud of us...being able to operate as per norm so fast after the move. she's happy to see the new building cos its so spacious and nice but that also mean more studies coming lol
she also told us that from what she gathered, this unit somehow lack confidence. we have the knowledge and skill but problem is we r too 'unvocal' and always take instructions blindly from our overseas counterpart. she told us that in order to enjoy our work and improve our knowledge in the work we do, we must always take initiative to query others. she challenged me on Day 2 to email my UK colleague who writes protocol and ask her y is there a need to do so many vital sign reading. I did. I received the answer today and hey! i learnt something new!
she told us that we must cooperate more and come up with ways to improve our work processes, just like how people work together to compete in formula 1. she told us that after we settled, she will be throwing 20 protocols for us to run simultaneously *gasp* i was quite surprise that she can 'see' how messy and uncooperative the unit is. she is really really sharp!
she told us that no matter wat, we must treat our subjects with respect. and hope we will be able to change our style of work to adapt to running 20 studies simultaneously. she told us that in order to 'listen' to us better, she is going to start a blog to update everyone of her operational meetings with all the units.
she gives v inspirational speeches whenever she comes and i am somehow glad to be under under under(duno how many layers down the hierachy lol) her. she apologized to me and my partner for the travel budget halt and also promised to let us visit the other units next yr (not tt keen anymore). was kinda touched by that gesture because this shows that she still remembered her promise to us earlier on this year.
however, i doubt her word will have any impact on the rest la. pple in this unit just cant be bothered. and esp with such crappy management. i rest my case.
