work's getting crappier lately. by rite i should feel better since i had closed 3 studies lately, my exam had ended, and i have plenty of time to clear my backlog... but fact is i am feeling worsT. we had lots of studies ongoing but guess wat? NO volunteers. its kinda getting embarassing. esp so when u r the middle person, having to explain the situation to the management overseas. i guess my partner feels the same way too. i am always baffled by SH's way of running re*ruitment. u dun sit and wait for people to call in. u go and reach out to them! we have expanded... yes... more beds, more stuff, more equipments, BUT our volunteer pool is still the same old story. i recalled almighty big boss told us to prepare ourselves to run 20 studies consecutively in near future... looking at the current situation *gasps* i shant comment further.

i remembered my chemistry teacher once stopped us along the corridor and asked us wats our plan for the big 'A's. we looked at each other with the 'duh' look ... my teacher, horrendously shocked told us 'NEVER PLAN MEANS PLAN TO FAIL'. it sounded farnie at that point of time but this golden advice had brought me quite far in life.

i am utterly disappointed in SH. looking at the way she does things, i think she has never planned her re*ruitment strategies for beyond 1 mth. even her subordinate told me she has no idea wat her boss is doing. as a leader, i feel that she should just delegate simple tasks to her karkias... a person in her position should take on bigger responsibilities. but i can sense her insecurity being just a dip holder. she is scare to assign tasks to her karkias for fear that they might overtake her. so she die die do everything by herself. and when she is preoccupied with small small tasks, she does not have time and extra energy to take on bigger tasks. and end up the whole dept just sits in the office and wait... wait to die.

i was telling hock that day... by now, SH should be leading her team to brainstorm for re*ruitment strategy for 2008. by since she is in such a bad state, she cant even move out of nov 2007. pathetic. to think the whole unit had to suffer with her esp nursing, lab and admin. now everyone had to chip in to help re*ruit volunteers. lab & nursing have to go out and distribute flyers. the poor admin gals have to look for alternative ideas to promote our trials. and the stupid thing is, why are they made to shoulder other people's incompetency?! get my frustrations? its not as if these good people have nothing else to do but sit in the unit and rot. they have their own job to do and most of time overloaded with their own duties... but ended up having to do MORE just because another dept is so so so unapt! was toking to CS yest when LD told him they have to go distribute flyers today. CS looked at me and asked if masks are provided. sounds farnie lah... but can sense the sarcasm. why? why? why?

actually, its really not that hard. trust me... i have a few strategies in mind... i guess every good kolic of mine can think of them as well. its not that i do not want to offer my help. first of all, its operations' barang. secondly, SH nv takes my suggestions and so i rest my case. SH... if you are that lucky enuf to come across this blog... here's my little help for you...

1. employ someone with marketing background. y crack your brain when this person can help u come up with strategies? if u scare this person overtake you... den u deserve to be overtaken if u still dun buck up!

2. carry on with your roadshows. i have no idea why u stopped them after your first try. was the result that bad? or is it because you werent that well-prepared at that time?

3. change target. my dear... have you ever studied social studies? do you noe the % of chinese population in singapore? *knock knock* its not that hard to do a trial in mandarin. trust me. if people can do it with the illiterate elderlys... i dun see y we cant do it in mandarin. we cant forever depend on people of ur race.

4. out of curiosity, do u actually noe ur volunteer pool well? i see u do surveys after every study, but do u acutally study the surveys? and have u ever conducted surveys on the general public? u noe wat is 只己只比，百战百胜？u nv go get to noe pple, how u conquer them? shd do a survey, get to understand their mentality towards clinical trial, den plan strategies to conquer these people.
